The Whole Body

Can an ear survive by itself? Would it still hear the cry of the unborn? Will the cry of the needy reach it? How can the ear hear without a head? If it could, would we know What it heard? And what of the hands that serve so well? Will they work cut off from the body? Will they prepare a dinner? Or give to those in need? Will hands feel, reach, And touch without the rest of the body? Imagine your foot laying on the floor? Can it go to visit the sick of its own accord? Or go the hurting world? Or maybe walk with the elderly? No, the body only works When it is connected with the rest of the body. The arm, the leg, the hands, or ears Are nothing by themselves. They are dead and useless Like a rotting tree.  So in Christ we all need each other To connect with each other For surely, the arm is useless without the ears and mouth. And likewise, the ears by themselves Can do nothing but hear.

For better, for worse

We just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary.   It seems like it was just yesterday that we were standing at an altar in a little country church before the minister and our friends and saying the centuries-old vow. to have and to hold, from this day forward,  for better, for worse,  for richer, for poorer,  in sickness and in health,  until death do us part. I must confess, those words have seemed to echo in my mind this year,  probably because it has been 30 years since we were married.  There has been a river of memories like water under a bridge. So many things have happened.  As I thought of the words of love that my husband and I spoke all those years ago, my first thought was, "How could I dare to speak them?" I guess I was young and invincible. I think that like most young people standing on the brink of marriage, what I heard was “To have and to hold, from this day forward” and I th...

Thank You

Wow!  God is good!  I just checked and realized that there have been over 10,000 people who stopped to read my blogs.   I’m humbled.   When I started writing these, I had no idea how it would go or even IF anyone would want to read what I wrote.  I sometimes feel that I’m not saying anything that others have not already said, and probably in better words.  But God is good all the time and has blessed the things I write.  When I first started, I struggled to get 100 words written, the blogs were very short.  Now, I have to remind myself to shut up.  Thank you, to the ones that have and do read what I write.  You have blessed me beyond measure.  I certainly do not deserve any of the kindness bestowed upon me by you the readers or by God.   I pray that I have over the past two years God has used me to encourage you and build up your faith.  Thank you, God, for opening doors that no one can shut.   I ...

No one Knows or Cares

I get up and after reading my Bible, I look at social media to catch up with my friends.  I find it interesting that on any given day, some of my friends will be struggling.  It may be with family, or work, or with someone in their circle that they are struggling.   If we were honest, we have all had those days or weeks.  The times when we feel like no one know or even cares about our struggles.  Christian friend, take heart, you are not alone.  Many others struggle as you do.  In fact, I suspect the one who has no struggles in this life is probably dead.  No matter how alone you feel, God is always there.   HE has promised never to leave you or forsake (turn his back on) you.  Don’t listen to Satan’s lie that you are alone; that your struggles are unique to you.  Anything you face, God has faced too and won.  Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.  You and I do not have a struggle too big for God. ...

God Bless America

It’s July 3rd  I have been thinking about how everyone will be celebrating.   People will have barbeques, some will be drinking.  There will, of course, be fireworks and some will be singing songs like “God Bless America” or perhaps “God Bless the USA”.  As I considered this,  I have to confess I was nauseated, sick to my stomach.   How dare we ask the Almighty God to bless a country that has made themselves a stench in his nostrils?   How dare we ask the sovereign God to bless America when we have “redefined marriage” to allow sexual perversion? How dare we ask the God of the universe to Bless America when we “legalize” the killing of unborn children, but we may not kill a wolf destroying our food...

As Sure As A Morning Sunrise

I hope I’ll go to heaven. This statement was not uttered by a non-Christian but by a dear Christian friend of mine.   The problem is that it’s not the first time I’ve heard those words uttered.  Today, I want to encourage you, my Christian friends.  I want you to know that you can trust God.  If you have put your trust in God, there is nothing more you need to do. There is nothing more you can do.   God has already done the hard part; He paid the debt that you could not pay.   When you trust him and give HIM control of your life,  He reserves a place for you in heaven. BOOM!  That’s it. Some will say that we have to do things like keep the commandments to get to heaven.  The fact is; we can’t keep the commands of God without the help of Christ.  The only thing the commands can do is point out your and my failure.  Am I saying then that we should not keep God’s laws? Absolutely not! I Keep G...

Rest For Your Soul

Tonight was such a beautiful sunny night that I decided to go for a walk and enjoy the warm summer sun before another wave of rain hits.  As I cranked up my music and headed out.  I could not help but praise God for the area in which I live.   I, quite literally, live 5 minutes from a small town.   If I want to walk, I can walk down deserted country roads without driving at all.  Yes, I am incredibly blessed.  I saw baby bunnies eating grass by the edge of the road and talked with the most friendly Jersey cows.  They always walk over to the edge of the fence as I walk by nodding their heads in greeting.   There was a deer, in a hurry to catch up with his “deer” friends I suppose.  There were daisies and buttercups, apple trees by the edge of the road and a creek that floods at least once during the spring.  I also occasionally see a very friendly donkey and a few horses who always come to the edge of the fence hoping I have sugar for...
