Shock Absorbers

As I as driving last week, I had to go on a road that was unimaginably bumpy.  I do not think that they had fixed the road in a long time. I was jostled and jolted by the bumpiness of the road.  As I drove, I was thankful that we had good shock absorbers on the car. There were a few times that if I had been taller, I would have bumped my noggin.  Friends, sometimes, through no fault of our own, we hit rough spots in our life; it’s bound to happen.  No one is immune to the troubles of this world.  What we need is a shock absorber; like the ones on the car to smooth out the ride, or a screen door to keep it from slamming.  Praise God we have a shock absorber for the potholes of life.  It is God! He holds those who put their trust in him in the palm of his hand.  What a comfort that because of him we can make it through the tough times and come out on the other side of what seemed like a crater unscathed.  We can look back and realize that we...

Amusement Rides

I love amusement parks!  Every summer I take one day and go to a local amusement park.  We always have a memorable time.  When I was young, I absolutely loved the thrill rides.  As I got older, I didn't ride them as much as I did.  Why?  Well the main reason was fear. I may get hurt, or “gasp” die.   Over the past few years, God has been showing me that my fear is ridiculous.  So I faced my fears and began to ride the thrill rides again.  There has been one ride called the exscream that I've held out on riding. I couldn't make myself ride it.  It was too “scary”; I still had too much fear.  This past summer, when I went to the amusement park, I decided to bite the fear monster.  As I watched the ride, I could see that it was pretty simple; it lifts you in the air and lets you fall, but it always slows you down before you get to the ground.  So I decided that it was pretty safe, after all I knew how it ended.  A...
