Count Your Blessings

It is good to have a thankful heart,

When we are feeling down, discouraged, and defeated.

We can focus on the things for which we are grateful.

Often when storms roll in,

we forget that we have many blessings

because all we can see is the storm

Somehow when we remind ourselves of what God has done,

we find a reason to sing and be happy.

We find a "God" perspective.

We realize that we don't need

to have things to be happy.

We choose to be happy regardless of outward circumstances.

Often the best blessings are not things

that can be measured by human standards.

When we stop and reflect on our blessings

we can't help but be encouraged and strengthened

because whether we admit it or not

we all enjoy a little, ok many, of God's blessings.

In fact, for me, if God were not blessing me, I probably would not be here

and I would not likely be writing these devotional blogs.

As a Christian, his blessings

don't end with this life.

Every day comes with blessing and trials

It's our job to seek the blessings

and stand strong during trials.

Doctors and Taxes

Tonight, I’m doing something I absolutely hate. My husband and I are working on a budget. I imagine that most of you feel the same way. It’ kind of like taxes and doctors, we dislike them and breathe a sigh of relief when they are done. Truth be told; we really don’t enjoy working on a budget at all. If indeed we are responsible to God for how we handle the resources that God has given us, then we need a clear picture. Perfect for Me

Tomorrow my sweetie and I will be celebrating twenty- nine years of marriage. What an amazing journey! I have to confess that when we were first married I had some preconceived ideas of what love and marriage would be like. I thought love was having my spouse with me all the time, holding hands doing everything together, never having a disagreement. I thought my darling sweetheart would never let me down or hurt me and everything would be perfect for the rest of our life. Wow! Can you believe how incredibly naïve I was? Speak Christ In Your Actions

Every day the situations we are put in define what we really believe. Sometimes how I respond to the irritations that life throws at me, sometimes daily, is critical. I work in food service. I love it. It puts me in a position to see a variety of different in a day. One thing I especially love is watching their reactions and responses to little things. I have seen people upset because there was .01 more than they asked for. I have seen little children holding out their hands for popcorn chicken as their parent walks by. I have been yelled at and made to feel less than human because an order was missed. I have also watched a nicely dressed lady show a ton of class when soda shot all over her. She just laughed and declared, “Guess I need a shower now.” She could have been angry and upset but instead she chose to laugh and “let it go, let it go” as the song says.
