It's a Miracle

Family Camp is over.

To say it was miraculous would be an understatement!

It amazed me how God worked out details that

I could not have done even if I had wanted to try.

It was perfect!

The seeds for this miracle were planted started a year earlier.

I was excited to be on my way to camp,

driving along and jamming to the beat of some

ā€œChristianā€ music when the thought popped into my head,

ā€œour cabin is so big for the three of us (Ryan and Abby, and I).

So, I asked what seemed for me to be the most logical question,

ā€œWhat do you want me to do, Lord?ā€

No sooner had I asked the question than God said,

ā€œInvite your other two children.ā€

I honestly was not sure how that would work.

One daughter lives in Georgia,

and the other is married and has a job,

so it was a longshot for either of them to be there.

After much thought,

I decided to ask each of them and see what would happen.

That was a year ago.

So, as the time for family camp approached,

I made plans as usual for the three of us to go camping.

My daughter from Georgia came to visit in June,

so I didn’t expect that she would be coming in August as well.

That would be too much to expect.

I anticipated that neither would be there,

and I made plans according to that expectation.

About three weeks before camp,

I was talking to my daughter in Georgia,

and she said she was going to be coming to camp.

I nearly dropped the phone; I was so excited.

There was plenty of room, so there were no worries.

About a week later,

my other daughter said she would be at camp

for some of the time as well and… she was bringing her husband.

Yippee! I happily danced around the Livingroom.

That, in itself, was a miracle.

I did not expect that it would happen.

We were going to have a family reunion at camp!

If that was all that happened, I could have been happy.

My family was together.

As though that was not enough,

the topic for the morning Bible time was renewing your mind.

I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my family and me.

It was perfect.

Each day

I found areas of my heart and emotions being opened for healing.

Over the week, so much healing took place in each of our lives.

The miracle was

that of all the things that the morning speaker could have talked about,

he chose the one thing that we all struggled with, our minds.

The funny thing is

that the relationship with my children has never been bad,

but I had no idea God could make it even better.

The miracle was the healing that took place.

As we all left, everyone was saying, we’ll be here next year.

Live Fearlessly

As I was driving home today, I passed a person walking on the side of the    road.  Since it was cold, and snowy, I thought I should stop and offer the person a ride.  As I drove on by, I was irritated with myself for not stopping.  I could have and should have but I didn't. Why?  I was scared! Maybe that wouldn't bother you, but I'm willing to bet there are things that make you afraid.  It may be snakes or spiders that send the ticker into  overdrive.  Or maybe it's your job and finances that keep you up at night when you should be resting.  Then again perhaps it's relationships that consume your thoughts and energy.  As followers of God, we know that we are told not to be afraid.  Yet we often are afraid despite everything we know.   As I was driving away from a misse...

Tragedy: A Christian Response

I want to start by telling you a story.  We were new parents.  When Our oldest, a son, was about eighteen to twenty months we had another baby, a girl with brown hair and huge eyes.   One day as I went to feed her, my son who may have been two at the time wandered off to another part of the house.  The next thing I heard was a thud.  I grabbed my baby girl and ran to see what happened.  There was my son with a table on top of him.  He had pulled it over on himself and more blood than I had ever seen was running all over.   We put him in the car and dashed for the ER.  It was not a fun trip. He had a skull fracture and many stitches.  Fast forward about fourteen or fifteen years, I’m at a stop light and watch my youngest daughter about ten start across a street on a bike start across a street just as a truck comes around a corner into the path of the bike.  She hit the side of the truck and bounced onto the road....

Thank you God for Leading us

Thank you God for how you lead us. Like a shepherd leading his sheep. Sometimes through the words you spoke in the Bible, your written word. at other times, it was the wise words from friends,  coworkers,or neighbors spoken at just the right time. Still other times it was a gentle tug,   a whisper to our heart to move  in one direction or another;  intuition or a sixth sense that one   way or another was right or wrong    Yet, when I listened and obeyed   I found the way was clear, distinct and easy to follow. You never leave us to guess which way to go.                                                                                                      ...
